Why London shouldn't hold the Olympics

Thank god London won the bid yesterday. This latest Tube saga, where an explosion occurred at Liverpool Street, was the result of a 'power surge'. Not sure how that can cause a 'loud bang', but there you go.

Update: The whole Underground network has been shut down. I wonder how the vote would pan out should this incident occurred yesterday or the day before.

Here is an
interesting blog by Tim. Hyde Park's Live8 attracted about 250,000 people while the anti war march in Feb 2003 has estimates of up to 1.5 million protestors. He compared two aerial shots of those who attended the rally in Hyde Park (around 375,000). So 375,000 went to listen to talks by grumpy old politicians such as Charles Kennedy, George Galloway, Ken Livingstone and Tony Benn. Who says politics is dead?
